I think the new speaker was in fact so wide and would need a case that had holes on the side to music could come out and also the case should be larger.

New speakers, battery life longer, the buttons on the sides, i-phone look and feel, faster programming and the Internet. lid fits both. but it could have holes in the side if you buy one for the second generation.

the second generation is thinner and is much more difficult to hack and jailbreak. the first generation is so easy to hack, but I like it better (because it is easy to hack = D)

Well … the biggest difference is probably that the iPod touch second generation has a different version of the software preloaded on it when you buy it like when the first generation has the older version of the software on it.
