Apple Back to School Deal, but wait no free of charge iPod Touch?

Every year Apple provides its Back to School deal for new School college students to take benefit of buying a Mac, either it being Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, Macbook or an iMac. Usually Apple tends to provide an iPod touch along with it, but this year Apple decided to give out gift cards to the Mac App Store. I study on Twitter that a great deal of men and women have been upset for not finding an iPod Touch. I give my opinions on why Apple pick the route of the gift card, instead of the iPod touch. The Back to School programs runs from June 16, 2011 through September 20, 2011. Do you consider Apple made a mistake by supplying a gift card as a substitute of the iPod Touch? @cdnml Great Point, I agree I think Apple should have given both away. A new iPod Touch and at least a $50 Mac App Store gift card!

$100 = worth it ?
lion comes in july = 29.99 = $70 remaining
so after august almost 99% people have 70$ left
if they give ipod touch one can sell it for like 170 or so and get 100$ card and still $70 remains in pocket.
so $100 not worth it

@IIXRATEDIIHiTMAN I agree, I think if Apple included the iPod Touch and a $50 gift card would have been nice. Let’s just hope this does not continue in the future with Apple and we start seeing less things offered due to greed! I would like to think Apple would not fall to this, but they are just a company like everyone else looking for more money!

even an ipod touch and a $10 gift card would promote the mac app store. Its just apples way of giving the consumer less whilst making more money themselves. Simple math shows at the end of the day, a $100 gift voucher doesn’t equate to the value of an ipod touch.

@96applemac I guess so, it’s just up to the person! I believe in paying for my music to support the artists who create it, instead of downloading it for free, but that’s just me!

I think that $100 (£65 where i live) is a bit low. Last year they were giving away iPod touch’s that cost around £170 in UK, so i would like at least £150 gift card to make it a good offer. Just saying

A hundred dollars? Really? If I am going to buy a mac for school, I would like an ipod. Even a shuffle. Rather than the $100.

if it aint broke, dont fix it. i think there shouldve been a choice to what you want. if apple was debating whether $100giftcard or an itouch, those geniuses shouldve thought of outting both up. if they give everyone both 100 dollar giftard and an itouch, apples gonna lose money. id put up a choice between the 2. thats the best way of going about it…. i’m going to college this year and i’ve been so excited about this deal and DANG! $100 gift card??! for ****??! its just so PATHETIC. and i have to get a macbook because my school says so. *amn it.
