question by Tony : utilizing iphone as an ipod for a SIM card I have an old iphone. it has no SIM card and it was only updated with old computer software on itunes, and I went in and intune conencted it to my personal computer so that I could with newer computer software update download stuff from the App Store with my WiFi, and I told it to restore it. so i restored and it took some other stuff. then read a message appeared message “itunes can not enable you to be your iPhone, simply because the SIM card is inserted or a SIM PIN is essential …. disconnect your iPhone assures that the SIM card is appropriately inserted, and if you a SIM PIN to use, tap Unlock, to enter it, and then back to your iPhone “in trying to do what it is utilised basically as an iPod not a phone. this is me going out there and carry on with this quit, the iPhone is now fully useless for me if I do not have a SIM card for him? please assist me on tips that could be avoided Finest Answer:

That’s funny. You really should be capable to use your iPhone as an iPod, even without a SIM card. I have achieved this with a initial generation iPhone, and I still use it as my “iPod touch”. This might sound silly, but you can do something with the iPhone, although they do it?

I got this error on my iPhone 3G. All you have to do is set in an old Cingular SIM card and it worked for me (a SIM card, you do not use often or not). If that does not work or you do not check out a Cingular SIM card, then either AT & T SIM card from your friend, and when the restoration is complete, they give back to them.
