This video is a preview of my new sound library which I used my iPhone & Apogee Jam to capture the sounds.

The initial sounds were recorded in Garageband on my iPhone using the Audix i5 plugged into the Jam using an Xlr to 1/4″ cable. The Garageband projects were then imported into the Mac, and the audio was edited in Ableton and Logic.

@HoldernessMedia I have been searching around the internet for a clear answer if the apogee jam works on the ipod touch 4g but I haven’t found a clear answer. Can you or anyone here tell me if it does?

Quick question though. On the Ableton demo I could hear some hissing in the background. Was that because you had a very light gain or distortion on or was it the Jam hissing?

@officerredfield Yes.

Does this work with garageband on the iphone?

@Acadalus The Jam has a much higher quality analog to digital converter and preamp, and has very little self noise. This results in a super clean, strong signal from your guitar which is pretty essential to achieving great tone.

@xsvijay Using an XLR to 1/4″ cable, you can connect an external microphone to use with the Jam, but the Jam does not provide phantom power so you are fairly limited in what kind of microphones you can connect directly.
If you have an acoustic/electric guitar you can plug directly into the Jam.

If you are not in a rush, you might want to wait a little longer until Apogee releases MIC, which is a microphone designed for iOS devices. Check Apogee’s website, they have more information on it.

Apogee just released a new firmware update for the Jam. Go to their website to download it.

I wonder if this adds support for more iOS devices as well? Anyone out there who can update their Jam and see if it works with 4th gen iPod touch?

@oligkr – Can you verify that the iPad Camera Connection Kit works on the iPod Touch? If so, which generations work? Also, if the CCK is compatible with iPod touch, wouldn’t the Jam work by plugging into the USB port of the CCK like any other usb interface, using the cable that’s intended to plug the Jam into Macs? Anyone out there who can try this and verify?

@sergkryzh Yes, the Jam works with iMovie on the iPhone 4, and I’m 99.999% sure it works on iPad 2, I just don’t have my own to test with. (I have a 1st gen iPad)
