Adding a camera hole to the iPhone four & 4S book book situation!
January 13, 2012 | In: IPhone 4
# # # Note UPDATED: # # # Following the filming of this I tested the case additional with the camera and located a issue triggered by a veil above flash photography. I’ve tried the hole larger all around the flash (matching a equivalent design from Belkin, which produced a related wallet situation – was what fundamentally two x 10mm holes side by side) to make, but the mist still happens, and in effect tends to make it also on the Belkin case. It also has absolutely nothing to do with the white iPhones in bleeding flash either, as I tested it with a black iPhone as nicely. Not truly ideal, so I would recommend if you program to do so, only a hole for the lens, the view is considerably nicer and tidier. If you require the flash then the old book book method Resort and pop it out. I do not regret cutting it at all, I want I had my partners test case to investigate this artifact bad soon after the reality, cos my situation would have been far a lot more covert with only a single lens hole have!
# # # End of Release # # # Who the stunning book book case, the iPhone is from Twelve South and loves taking photos possibly overlooked that the case has no camera hole. That is the situation make it completely ideal in my head I took the risk in an attempt to make my personal camera hole. As you can see from the video, it demands a little cleansing up all around the edges and seal, but the holes appear fantastic and the camera works a treat without shading or photographic artifacts from the situation. If you stick to my lead then make a decision to take your time with this and examine all your … Video Rating: four / 5

For some reason, your book book seems different. The binding seems way too aged, while the cover seems untouched, when it is supposed to be aged.

I’ll admit. I’m an American and all that math and cutting, rather pay someone else to do it.

Why wouldn’t they stitch that in the case themselves. Its a $60 case for cryin out loud.

I got this case today. It’s nice. Was thinking I’d take it to a leather shop and have them cut an elongated oval for both

@MrNaimgil yes it hasn’t darkened much at all. I did apply a leather conditioner after chopping the lens hole, and so I wonder whether this has actually protected it from darkening. Here’s hoping this will change with time!

Is your case still pink?

@MistaRobotto Ohh I hadn’t seen the Hex case before. I’m glad I got the BookBook though as I like the whole idea of it looking like a little book and the worn vintage leather look is pretty cool. Also the card holders inside with the see-through section is a nice touch, but each to there own. When hammering through the BookBook there was an extra layer that wasn’t leather, so I’m sure if you got the Hex case that the hole punch would have no trouble creating a clean hole through it! Good luck

very cool. thank you for taking the time to show us how to do this. I am debating between this and the smaller Hex Code Wallet. I want to do the same thing for the Hex, but there’s a plastic backing between the iphone and the leather. If you get your hands on that case, please let us know if you are able to do the same thing to it. Or… you should consider buying them in bulk, putting the holes in them, then reselling them. I wouldn’t mind paying more to save me from doing it myself.

@DarjeelingTea Not yet and to be honest I probably won’t now. I just made the edges a tad tidier and then used some Pecard Leather conditioner to help protect it all.

I’m going to give this a shot. I rarely use the flash, but have a flashlight app that comes in handy. Did you ever seal the edges from the punch?

@virtualgeezer: sorry for my late answer….oh ok, godd to know about the haze effect. quite strange that it occurs to the belkin case too :-/ actually I’m waiting for my book book case to arrive here in germany, I ordered it the second of november, twelve south seems to have trouble to produce the cases due to super high demand. Gonna make only one hole for the camera lens as you said, no hole for the flash isn’t such a big issue I think
thanks a lot!

Do you know what the model number is for your case? Is it 12-1110 ?

@virtualgeezer …(basically two 10mm holes side by side). Annoyingly the haze still occurs, and after testing her case as well it also does it on that too. I thought it might be because of the white iphone as the flash bleeds badly in the surrounding case, but it turns out the haze also occurs with the black iphone too. So If i could go back I would only cut a hole out for the lens & leave it at that. If I wanted to use the flash I’d pop the camera out bookbook stylee! Still love it though!

@Fa1986 You’re right, the current batch of cases are really pink! Hopefully with lots of handling and age it’ll darken but it was a little disappointing initially.
I haven’t tidied the hole up yet. In fact I made the hole a bit bigger the day after filming this as when the flash is being used there is a haze over the whole picture which didn’t appear during the filming. My partner has a very similar Belkin (I believe that’s the manufacturer) wallet case and I matched their hole dimension…

thanks so much for your video, I wanted to do the same thing
now I know how I can do it. Did you get around to make the edges of the holes tidier?
I want to buy the case, but what I recognized is that the newer one’s are quite pink colored :-/ the first versions back in july/august where not so “pink”
