Note: This will not work since iTunes upgraded.

@AccountN0name hey look its the same as if you are cracking adobe … so look go to C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc and open hosts with notepad, than type what is in the video under the last line and hit save than restore

I try to do this, with 2 mac books and both have the same problem. i want to upgrade to 4.0.2 because thats what i had last time for a jailbreak.

After I have edited the hosts and changed the server, iTunes still says ‘this device isn’t eligible for the requested build’ when I try to downgrade. You did say to watch your other tutorial on what to do next to downgrade, but I can’t find it ?

@NINKman Then you did not save it properly. Hit control x to exit and then hit Y for yes. It will then ask you if you want it to write to the file /etc/hosts. Hit enter and it should save.

@acepaidnfull How do I know if I have the new or old bootrom? My serial # shows 5K944, which means my phone was made in the 44th week in 2009 and is probably the NEW bootrom. BUT my model shows MB718LL, which potentially means I’m on the OLD bootrom.
Can you help me out?

If your unlocked and update to 4.0 you will loose your unlock if you have the new.bootloader so just stay on 3.13 for now if its a 3gs. If its a 3g go ahead and upgrade because u can unlock and jailbreak 4.0 for 3g iphones

@da3coons not tru at all. you can use pwnagetool 4.01 or redsnow to enamble those features on the 3g that the 4g and 3gs have.
