I will make a video if enough people ask for one Finally a simple true way to downgrade your 3.1.3 3rd generation Ipod Touch I tried at least 5 different youtube videos to help me out and all they did was frustrate me!! ——————— I did not figure this out i found this out while “Googling” this is the link — answers.yahoo.com If you do not want to click the link you can read the steps below. ——————— I had the same problem. Unfortunately, the DevTeams have found an exploit for 3.1.3 but have not released it, they are waiting for Apple to release iPod Touch/iPhone firmware 4 (As it has been released for the iPad). Fortunately, it is simple to downgrade and jailbreak. THERE IS NO WAY TO JAILBREAK 3.1.3. ANY SITES THAT SAY YOU CAN, ARE SCAMS!!! 1. Go to www.felixbruns.de and download the ipod touch 3g 3.1.2 firmware. 2. Put the ipod in Recovery Mode (Keep holding power and home) until the recovery icon appears. 3. Go to: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts 4. Open it with notepad and scroll all the way to the bottom. Add the following line: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com If you don’t, it will not downgrade, because Apple will not “sign” the downgrade. 5. Plug it in and in iTunes, Shift+Click Restore and go to your desktop and select the file you downloaded from felixbruns.de. 6. Go to blackra1n.com and click the windows or mac icon depending on what computer you have 7. Run Blackra1n and it will be jailbroken. Tips: 1. Blackra1n will have to be run …

@VIN4CEN i do have administrative access. this doesn’t seem to be a matter of not having the authority, it seems to be a matter of that the computer doesn’t seem to be able to save to that location. unless it’s some kind of mask used to cover the fact that i’m not allowed to edit it, and they’re masking it as an error

@bboytexas yeah i edit the HOSTS file using notepad, then when i click save (not save as) it tells me it cannot create the file, and then it immediately brings me to the save as box. when i click on the HOSTS file to overwrite it, i get the same message again and it resets me back to the save as box
